Repairing locks
On many occasions a customer would bring a lock to us from out of their car or the whole vehicle with the lock still in the car/truck for repair. In most cases we are able to repair the lock without any replacement parts. We've even had broken keys sent to us in the mail for duplication. Our lock technicians can usually read the cuts on the key a then cut you a new one. This little trick we do a lot.
Vats Keys
Some of the older cars still need a vats key. This stands for VEHICLE-ANTI-THEFT-SYSTEM. It's really not a chip at all. It's a resistor pellet. The computer reads the value of this pellet in the key and allows it to start your car. Some people have had remote starters installed into their vehicles which will bypass this theft system. Be careful! Your insurance company my not cover you in this case.
